Privacy policy

Your privacy is important to us. Cowichan Wineries Society (CWS) and the Cowichan Valley Wine Festival (the Festival) take several precautions and steps to ensure your information stays private.

CWS and the Festival collect personal details necessary for the completion of our business transactions with you. These details may include but are not limited to, your name, confirmation of age of majority, company, contact information, address and credit card information. This information is primarily gathered when you purchase tickets to verify credit card ownership and or sign up for a mailing list.

The information we collect is vital for secure financial transactions and to ensure our licensed events are secure. Maintaining a history of your transactions allows us to best serve your ticketing needs, but we do not keep your credit card information. From time to time we will send you information about upcoming events we believe will be of interest to you.

Neither CWS nor the Festival shares or sells its contact lists of ticket-holders or those who have signed up for email newsletters. We do not exchange lists of names and addresses with other organizations. Members of CWS may from time to time contact you to share information about winery events that they believe are of interest to you, however, they do not have any access to your financial details.

CWS and the Festival uses a third party ecommerce platform to sell tickets and that third party must comply with strict data privacy standards, including rules and guidelines of the federal privacy legislation, and is required to destroy the information supplied after one use.

Only authorized personnel and board executive have access to this information. We use Squarespace with an ecommerce PayPal widget with a secured server where the majority of information is held.

Squarespace uses reasonable security measures to store and maintain personal identifying information so as to protect it from loss, misuse, alteration or destruction by unauthorized parties while it is under their control, and uses secure socket layer (SSL) encryption when transmitting certain kinds of information, such as payment information, over the Internet.
